Located around six kilometres from the heart of Wellington City,
the suburb of Karori (the largest in New Zealand) is ideally placed
if you are looking for a combination of lifestyle as well as the
convenience of city living. Surrounded by a large area of native
bush, the area is also home to a number of attractions including
the magnificent Karori Wildlife Sanctuary.
Getting to Karori is easy. There is an excellent public transport
service with buses
which run regularly between Karori and the city. With the addition
of designated bus lanes, commuting times have been dramatically
reduced.
For those who like shopping and getting out and about, Karori has
a number of shops and services such as beauty therapists, hardware,
hairdressers, florists and gift shops, boutiques, supermarkets,
garden centre, a picture framer, cafés and coffee shops among
others. Check out the listings on the left.
As well as being home to the world-renowned Karori Wildlife Sanctuary,
Karori also offers a public swimming pool, the Karori Golf Course
(a reasonably testing course even for the experienced golfer), tennis
courts, bridge and bowls clubs, children’s playgrounds and
parks, historic landmarks such as Wright’s Hill with its famous
gun emplacements and views out over Wellington City, bush walks,
green reserves, modern and traditional housing, beautiful gardens
and many more attractions!
As well, currently under construction is an upgrade to the Karori
Centre. This upgrade will include a new two storey library and community
centre. |
